It is not that technology and innovation requires democracy, totalitarian countries can create great amount of technology and even more than democratic ones because they have no ethical inhibitions.
as this video says technology has no specific effect except that it speed up everything.

We're getting there. I believe Huxley and Orwell hit the nail on the head. I'm a little like George Carlin, as I root for humanities destruction. I root for it because I believe in universal law and that for all the destruction, poison and deceit we have put on this planet, on the animals, on ourselves, we will reap what we sow.

2:53 The causal root of this aspiration is misconstrued. It is not the technology itself that would likely make these countries crave capitalism. It's the fact that this type of technological innovation usually comes from democratic Western countries. The world sees the west as the tech- center and so they admire the values that produce the technological goods. Its not the technology itself that makes them desire democracy and "more stuff", but the source.

Exactly. People who think a tyranny in the near future would be anything like the empires in antiquity, the absolutist monarchies in the modern age or even the dictatorships in the 20th century are completely missinformed about the modus operandi of contemporaneous power seeking political factions.
